Luminous Silken Windhounds

Welcome to Luminous

The Silken Windhound breeding program at Luminous centers around our proprietary neuroplasticity technique, the FlowState Tuning Method. These methods produce a relaxed and open state in those who use them and helps to prime all of the communication channels so rapport, understanding, and connection become easier.

We believe dogs who are happier, more relaxed, and more open are mentally and physically healthier, and also able to achieve excellence whether they are show dogs, service dogs, competing in sporting events, or just being the best fuzzy companion you could ever imagine.

Holistically Reared

At Luminous, we do everything we can to see that our breeding program is in alignment with nature’s laws. Our girls go into a dark whelping tent five days before their due date in order to help create a feeling of calm and safety before the whelp. The bulk of our dogs’ diet is fresh meat, vegetables, raw goat milk, farm fresh eggs and more. We also provide herbs as well as supplements such as colostrum, probiotics, and herbal wormers. The natural instincts of the animals are taken into consideration when making breeding decisions as well as day-to-day care decisions.

The emotional health of our dogs is just as important to us as their physical health and we make every effort to create a cooperative environment that allows our dogs to live with dignity and respect. We take their wishes into account when making choices and see to it that each animal feels confident and happy about their role in our integrated human/canine pack. Our puppies are raised in our home and the puppies spend a lot of their lives underfoot, learning critical social skills that will serve them as they grow.

While we try to be as natural as possible at Luminous Silken Windhounds and we also understand that infectious disease is a concern. In order to mitigate the risks of infectious disease, we follow the Dr. Jean Dodds’ protocol.

Conventional and western medicine methods can be life-saving in the right instances Although natural healing methods are our first choice, in the case one of our dogs absolutely needs medication or interventions, we do everything necessary to support the healing of that animal so they can return to natural balance.

In Service to a Higher Calling

The long-term aim of Luminous Kennels is to provide fully trained medical and psychiatric alert service Silkens to young people in need free of charge. Through our Service Friendhounds Program, we focus on breeding, raising, and training the most well balanced, healthy, and intuitive Silkens we can in order to increase the chances of producing successful Service Silkens.

Training service dogs is expensive and time consuming. Through the use of the FlowState Tuning Method we reduce the amount of time, and therefore the amount of money, it takes to train one. Luminous partners with professional service dog trainers to breed and train our Silkens. If you wish to make a donation and gift a service dog to a young person in need, please click here: SERVICE FRIENDHOUNDS

Becoming a successful service dog is very difficult and most puppies are not cut out for the rigors of service work. Most of our pups go to regular homes where they are just as happy to serve powerful creators, growing families, determined young people, and more. All of the puppies born at Luminous are more skillful communicators, confident, and resilient because of the education they receive.

It Takes a Village

We have a whole team of dog lovers that help look after and train our dogs, including an army of willing puppy socializers that come from the surrounding community to help our puppies get used to all shapes, sizes, and ages of humans and other animals. We follow Puppy Culture methods and, when conditions are appropriate for doing so, we use early neurological stimulation techniques with our puppies.

By the time our puppies go home, they have experienced many novel sounds, sights, smells, and environments. Loud noises, clicker training, leash training, public transit, beach walks, long car rides, stores, loud city environments, overnight stays at friends houses, multiple different sizes, shapes, ages, and energy levels of both humans and other dogs, play dates with other litters of puppies, cats, and much more. They’ve also had rudimentary training in manners, leash familiarity, potty training and other critical life skills.

Each puppy is professionally assessed at 8 weeks old for temperament and structure so the individual puppy can be paired with the right families. We focus on calm temperaments, resilience, and empathy in our lines.

We don’t breed puppies at Luminous. We forge arrows of healing, each one born with a destiny to touch a specific person’s heart. Although it takes a special dog to excel at service work all of our puppies will excel at bringing healing, light, and joy to the lives of the people they live with.
